PURGATORIUM poster

New poster for the upcoming LIVE of Night On Earth.

The event is entitled 'Purgatorium', and I was asked to design a poster that indirectly visualizes Greece's current social/political state.

If purgatory is a 'space' of prolonging the 'afterlife', then Greece is definitely occupying it!

The design is a fictional Purgatory island with protest valleys, occupy locations, salvation camps, hotels, geographies of wishful thinking, ancestor temples and a centered entrance to the Underword (BANKS).

The island is located above a mid-resolution anatomical drawing of a human heart, cohesive but digitally fragmented.

A white background draft was made in the probability of producing t-shirts, while the 'old-map' esthetics of the poster is set to be printed in a limited edition copies and purchased during the LIVE concert.

The live performance will take place this Sunday 25th March 2012 @ BAUMSTRASSE at 21.30.

The entrance fee is 10 euros.

Most of the Night On Earth posters are designed by Costinho, based on "elements" I have provided the band in the past. I had the chance to design the poster for their concert @ Gagarin, their live sessions @ Alavastron and their spring tour in 2009.

NIGHT ON EARTH t-shirts

Designing T-shirts for Night On Earth was one of the coolest things to do! The band decided to print two of my designs in three colors, dark grey, creme for guys and red for women. It's so nice to see your work being worn by people! In one of the concerts I've attended almost 20% of the audience was wearing a NOE T-shirt!

NIGHT ON EARTH summer bags

To celebrate Night On Earth's latest release we I was asked to design promotional material to accompany their live concerts and summer tour.
Out of a series of designs, the band decided to print a limited version summer bag that I got in my hands just before summer 2009. The print was of great quality and the bag itself proved to be quite handy (obvious reference to picture above)!

NIGHT ON EARTH second hand release

In December 2008, Night On Earth's second album entitled ‘Second Hand’ was released, under the label of Upstar/Sony. The album was the result of the innovative collaboration between the band and songwriter Thanassis Papakonstantinou who also produced it, hosting widely acclaimed guest musicians from a broad range of musical background of the local scene. ‘Second Hand’ introduces our perspective on the songwriter’s older material, creating songs based on his music and lyrics and bringing together diverse influences ranging from free jazz and post rock to Greek folk music.
I was responsible for the art direction of the album, designing the whole package including booklet. The design was a compilation of "retouched" stamps,drawings and hand written lyrics.

NIGHT ON EARTH fridge magnet box

To honor the collaboration with the band I designed a super limited box (actually only one) with a collection of small "fridge magnets" inspired by the album illustrations. Here is a sample of them.

All magnets were rapped in thin paper used later as background for a demo poster.

NIGHT ON EARTH website

A couple of months ago I designed the website of Night On Earth. Night On Earth is a group that emerged from an improvisation that was performed live by Paracroussis, a devoted post-music sound-terrorist collective. Their musical style can be portrayed as a puzzle of trip hop and blues noir, tuned in a jazzy mood, under an improvising spirit; entering trippy and moody soundscapes that echo cinematic references.

I have been working for quite some time with the band, designing their latest album, posters and promotional material. Their website is an important particle to their visual identity. Web development was done by Bananiotis.
